A word from Edmonton's Mayor, Bill Smith:

On May 12, 13 and 14, 2003, Edmonton will host the third "Meet the North Conference and Exposition."

The theme of Meet the North 2003 is both timely and relevant:

"Best Practices for Business Success in the North"

The conference will begin with an internationally acclaimed panel of economists and industry experts outlining northern business opportunities over the next 25 years. Throughout the conference, Canada's most successful business people and organizations will share the secrets of their success in the North, including:

  • Best practices in building strong Aboriginal relations;
  • Best northern workforce practices - educating, attracting, developing and retaining;
  • Best regional economic development practices; and
  • Best practices in developing effective regional transportation systems.

For the first time, Meet the North will be hosting a Northern Financing Symposium, it will be of interest to participants seeking a better understanding of financing, addressing questions of business owners and management.

Meet the North 2003 is shaping up to be Canada's most important northern gathering in 2003! I hope that you will be part of the critical mass of northern business people, northern economic development officers, northern community leaders, and elected officials that will come together in Edmonton.

We are pleased that the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce is assisting with this conference. Please phone (780) 426-4620 ext 227 for more information and to register, or visit our online registration form by clicking the appropriate button above.

Conference Agenda and Information

This two-day conference will focus on business development, networking and a search for solutions to the business, political and other challenges facing Northerners.

Panel discussions and multiple breakaway sessions are designed to help delegates discover synergies that can form the basis of future win-win relationships.

For the first time, Meet the North - Makin' it Work will host a Northern Investment Symposium. The symposium will showcase dozens of pre-qualified northern investors in search of investment capital. Investors and venture companies from across Canada will be on to learn about these opportunities.
