A word from Edmonton's Mayor, Bill Smith:
On
May 12, 13 and 14, 2003, Edmonton will host the third "Meet
the North Conference and Exposition."
The
theme of Meet the North 2003 is both timely and relevant:
"Best
Practices for Business Success in the North"
The
conference will begin with an internationally acclaimed panel
of economists and industry experts outlining northern business
opportunities over the next 25 years. Throughout the conference,
Canada's most successful business people and organizations
will share the secrets of their success in the North, including:
- Best
practices in building strong Aboriginal relations;
- Best
northern workforce practices - educating, attracting, developing
and retaining;
- Best
regional economic development practices; and
- Best
practices in developing effective regional transportation
systems.
For
the first time, Meet the North will be hosting a Northern
Financing Symposium, it will be of interest to
participants seeking a better understanding of financing,
addressing questions of business owners and management.
Meet
the North 2003 is shaping up to be Canada's most important
northern gathering in 2003! I hope that you will be part of
the critical mass of northern business people, northern economic
development officers, northern community leaders, and elected
officials that will come together in Edmonton.
